Inside
Arts is proud to present:
Hidetoshi
Yamada
Couples
Hidetoshi
Yamada was born in Tokyo in 1970, but he has lived in London since 1999,
and has exhibited widely in both cities. Most recently, Hide has worked with
Rankin on a soon-to-be-released short film entitled Ants, in which
Hide's drawings will star as the works of a female artist. As Hide admits,
his use of technology extends to a "mobile and broken hi-fi", but his skill
with paper, pencil and brush is breathtaking.
In their
April 2003 issue, Dazed & Confused cited Hide as one to watch. Since 1999
he has been working on projects concerned with the human subject, expressing
the combination of shape and movement with various patterns and abstract designs.
For his
brand new work for fEAST, Hide
has drawn on his upbringing in Japan and memories of family lunches beneath
the blossoming cherry tree, nervousness escorting a girlfriend to a trendy
Tokyo restaurant and his country's wide range of fruits. Visit the show for
the first chance to see them.
